Handy Manny: A Very Handy Holiday

Handy Manny: A Very Handy Holiday

Handy Manny, the Spanish handy man Manny Garcia and his talking tools never cease to amaze and entertain my 4 year old. Their adventures in trying to help fix whatever that needs fixing around Sheetrock Hills are entertaining as well as educational. The series often teaches about team work, respect and some Spanish of course! There are other fun characters too, like Mr. Lompart – the candy store owner, who often runs into mishaps while trying to be his own Mr. Fix-it.

The coming Christmas instalment of Handy Manny is one of those delightful episodes. In  Handy Manny: A Very Handy Holiday, we see Manny and his tools help fix up the lights that have suddenly gone out in the town square. Last minute repairs seem to overwhelm the tools, making them agitated and antsy about their own celebration.  Will Handy Manny make it in time to celebrate Christmas?

In this DVD, we also get a look at how Handy Manny celebrates New Year’s Eve. This time though, Mr. Lompart has been given the task of putting the New Year’s Eve ball together. As usual, he runs into a line of mishaps. Manny, the ever so helpful and capable handy man comes to the rescue. Again, we wonder if he will manage to finish it all in time to usher in the New Year. And, will Mr. Lompart get to celebrate it with his Mum?

My 4 year old loved this DVD, and surprisingly so did his sisters who are 7 and 8! Ok, and so did I! Not only did we all learn the true meaning of Christmas, we also get an insight into the different cultural aspects of celebrating New Year’s Eve through Manny and his Spanish background. It was entertaining and heart warming with lots of festive songs. There was also some lovely bonus episodes from the My Friends Tigger and Pooh series. If you’re still pondering what to get a pre-schooler for Christmas, then I would suggest this fantastic DVD. Not only will they learn about team work, and consideration for others, but I do love the fact that they teach the true meaning of Christmas – being giving by helping others. This DVD will be in stores from 3rd November 2010, so keep a look out for it!
