]]> http://justuskids.com.au/blog/2009/10/02/of-cultural-diversity/comment-page-1/#comment-156 irene Sat, 03 Oct 2009 03:08:29 +0000 http://justuskids.com.au/blog/?p=123#comment-156 I'm a Singaporean Chinese....as Singapore is a multi cultural society, I get to celebrates all festivals including Hari Raya because of my dear friends, Deepavali because of my sister's boyfriend....I exposed my kids to all these festivals so that they have an idea how others celebrate....and this is widely taught in schools...in their kindergarten, they have cultural day and the teachers make it a point to celebrate all the different festivals for the kids....It was because of my sis's boyfriend that I get to experience another culture....just recently I went to an Indian funeral and realise its totally different from how the Chinese does it but it also allows me to respect how everyone does things differently but for the same cause..Next year my kids will get to experience an Indian wedding which will be another eye opener for them.... I definitely agree with you on letting the kids experience everything so they'll learn to respect others as well....
